The International Conference on Renewable Energies ~ICRE 2009~ November 30 – December 3, 2009 Damascus, Syria
Conference
From 2009-11-30 to 2009-12-03 - Damascus - Syria

After having experienced impressive growth rates for many years, Giga-Watt-scale manufacturing and installation are now becoming a reality. Fortunately the number of countries actively and ambitiously supporting the development of renewable energies is increasing, providing a solid basis for further growth of the global renewable energies market. In the coming decade renewable energies will have to position and establish itself as a key technology to fight climate change, to enhance security of supply and, last but not least, to bring electricity to people who do not have grid access. Reaching grid parity has become an important target and will provide the first major stepping stone on the road to full competitiveness. The International Conference in Renewable Energies ICRE and Exhibition will be held at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST), Damascus Syria, from 30 November to 3 December 2009. The choice for Damascus as a conference location is an excellent one, since Syria could play a crucial role in reaching the required stage of development. The Renewable energy sector can give our host country a lot. The diminution of cheap energy sources, and growing global environmental concerns have induced greater interest in alternative sources of energy. The purpose of ICRE is to bring together international researchers and practitioners working at the cutting edge of solar energy, as well as related areas such as renewable energy and clean energy. Renewable energy is taking off Technology development and economies of scale are two main drivers for cost reduction and this Conference will give exciting insights in both. The conference program will provide a comprehensive overview of developments trends at short, medium and long term, while the Exhibition will again allow visitors to experience the vitality and width of the rapidly growing global renewable energies industry sector. Moreover, the event gives unique opportunities to learn about virtually all other aspects of renewable energies development from education and training to financing, from government programs to entrepreneurship, and much more. Through ICRE it is time to convey a special word of welcome to students and other young people: renewable energies combine exciting science and technology with great societal relevance and many new business and job opportunities. Attending this Conference and Exhibition is very well spent time in many respects. It is hoped that all of you will come to Damascus to get informed and inspired and to share your results and insights with members of the renewable energies community as well as with people new to the sector. LOCATION ICRE will be held in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic Conference Chair Prof. Soulayman Soulayman – HIAST
